Best for: Dry skin that needs a richer daily moisturizer

Our take

Dermalogica is a long-established professional skincare brand used in salons and spas, and this is its moisturizer for dry skin. The formula, which the tube labels as powered by a Bio Replenish Complex, combines ceramides, prebiotic algae and hyaluronic acid to moisturize intensely and support the skin's lipid barrier. Ceramides and hyaluronic acid are two of the best-supported moisturizing ingredients, so the recipe is sound. The squeeze tube is hygienic and easy to travel with. It is a rich cream, so oily or breakout-prone skin may find it too heavy, and it costs considerably more per ounce than drugstore ceramide creams that cover the same basics.

  • FormulaEditor's note

Ceramides, hyaluronic acid and prebiotic algae: a well-rounded recipe for skin that is dry or has a weakened barrier.

  • Who it suitsEditor's note

Best for dry and very dry skin, especially in cold weather. Lighter gels suit oily skin better.

  • ValueEditor's note

A premium price for a moisturizer. You are paying for the brand and texture; drugstore ceramide creams cost far less.
